Text Box: Marconias impressively performs Guitar, Vocals, Percussion, Harmonica, Drums, Synthesizer and Bass on his CD, Restless Souls.

The project was recorded at Red Mountain Studios and Marconias’ home studio. The production and orchestration on Restless Souls is professional sounding and as good as any that I’ve heard from a local studio in Phoenix, Arizona. Some award winning and most highly skilled local artists from Phoenix offered their support to Marconias during his recording sessions. David Grossman plays piano beautifully on the song ‘Living Room’ and sings flawless harmony on ‘Just Like You’. Kerry Jackson plays Synthesizer, Piano, Fretless Bass and sings harmony vocals. Danny Gutenkaugh plays Bass in ‘If You’re So Smart’ and Eric Waggoner offers his seasoned Mandolin skills on ‘Just Like You’.

I visited Marconias's’ website www.marconias.com and uncovered a wonderful sense of humor along with some great photographs of the artist. He told me that he is originally from California (all up and down the place).

“Living Room” is a colorful portrait of family life of the 70’s & 80’s. Kool-aid, paper plates and sunburn are some of the gentle reminder in the song. “Living Room” has a way of bringing the listener back home, to their own living rooms of the past. The song was all conjured by dream images that Marconias had. The song has a focus on one particular love that he knew. Marconias told me, “I remembered some of the scenes from dreams and wove them into a song about the space she needed when she dumped my blubbering ass.” Marconias captures the details of teenage summer days and nights through vivid imagery and emotional expression.

There’s nothing ‘phony’ in the song ‘Message Machine’. Marconias’ lyrics are genuine and he doesn’t hold back on emotion to spare his own vulnerability. “Pillars of Stone” combines the sounds of wind and sadness to leave you standing in a cold granite quarry, with only loneliness and despair. He told me, “I purposely wrote it with a Stonehenge feeling.”

He continued to tell me more about his songwriting, “‘I’m So Different Now’ has a clever lyric of a rebuttal and then takes you to the heavy last line: ‘The next time I climb, I won’t go so far, ‘cause I won’t survive another fall like before’ to show the real insight of my culture. (Same girl)”

Restless Souls will require a permanent place in your CD changer. The flawless tonality and multi-layers of Marconias’ strong vocals create an original sounding CD that is easy to listen to. Marconias has a very unique sound but his creativity can be compared to artists such as Paul Simon and Gordon Lightfoot. I make this comparison because Lightfoot and Simon are artists who have written profound, expressive lyrics that bring tears to your eyes, make you move or laugh with equally creative musical composition.
